One of MARIAM EM’s signature ingredients is the incredible Sidr, from the leaves of Arabian Sidr trees. Recognizing this special botanical’s many benefits, we’ve chosen to feature Sidr in all of our formulas for the skin and hair, and believe it deserves a place in your everyday beauty routine.
The leaves of the plant have been found to contain important components such as peptides, cyclopeptide alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, betulinic acid, and triterpenoid saponin glycosides, which encourage healthy skin tissue and hair.
When translated from its scientific name, Prunella Vulgaris, is commonly called “self-heal” or “heal-all”.
Studies show that its underlying molecular mechanisms are highly effective for addressing environmental stress and signs of damage caused by UV exposure.
Simply, it is antioxidant, meaning it helps fight harmful free radical activity that can contribute to breakdown of collagen, discoloration, wrinkles, and other skin aging. Prunella vulgaris, when used in cosmetics, can help reverse some of these issues, thereby living up to its name and making for an exceptional skincare additive.

CLINICAL TRIAL
Changes in sebum, pore size, acne formation, and moisture levels were examined in 10 volunteers. The product was applied for 6 weeks and evaluated once a week.
Under the conditions of this study a 45% reduction in sebum, a 49% reduction in pore size, and a 66% reduction in acne formation were observed.
Moisture and elasticity data increased in the 2nd week, followed by a return to a baseline value or sometimes no change (in some volunteers). This indicates that sebum can be controlled to refine the appearance of pores and without drying the skin.
